Since starting this collaborative photo blog in January, I have seen some truly spectacular work by fantastic local photographers and have had the great pleasure of sharing these images with you. I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I have had displaying them.

I have come to a cross-roads, as is likely to happen in every blog-owner’s life, about how to continue. I have to admit the gallery is very time-consuming and I am just as busy with life as everyone else. Submissions aren’t coming in as regularly as I’d hoped, and it causes me anxiety about my posts—it becomes extra stress that is really not needed. As I am not ready to entirely abandon the concept, I thought that I would try something a little different to ease some of the pressure. Instead of using this platform to display images, I am moving everything exclusively to Facebook for now. Based on my WordPress stats, I think many people are looking at the photos only through FB anyway and not clicking over to the blog.

So, here’s the new game plan:

1. Please continue submitting your work! You can post directly onto the wall of the Modern Victoria FB page: https://www.facebook.com/ModernVictoria; or you can submit as before through the submission page and I will upload the images to FB. Using FB will making sharing and feedback easier for everyone, and for those of you hoping to get more likes on your own pages, it will make it really easy for others to find you.

2. I will continue to share photography thoughts and interesting links through FB instead of the blog, which will ease some of the pressure of daily content creation for me.

3. The Modern Vancouver blog will remain active and alive; all photos in the gallery will stay where they are and you can access them for viewing anytime. Take your time looking through the site and digging up old posts—there’s some real gold in here!

So if you haven’t “liked” Modern Victoria on FB yet, now is the time! I’ll see how it goes and perhaps in the future—maybe later in the fall when we are not all on ‘holiday’ mode—I will resume the existing blog format. It just feels time for a change at the moment.

Thank you so much for all your support and especially to all the fine photographers who so generously submitted their work. I have learned so much—and the journey is not over! As always, I appreciate your comments and thoughts…and look forward to seeing your work displayed on the Facebook wall of Modern Victoria.
